*

“Allowances”

(a poem of sorts)

What am I?

Am I human?

Am I a son?

Am I a daughter

Am I a brother?

Am I a sister?

Am I a father?

Am I a mother?

Am I allowed to create?

Am I allowed to grow?

Am I allowed to change?

Am I allowed to evolve?

Am I subhuman?

Am I allowed to dream?

Am I allowed to hold my head high?

Am I allowed to cry?

Am I allowed to laugh?

Am I allowed to bloom?

Am I allowed to see hidden truths?

Am I allowed to be heartbroken?

Am I allowed to be happy?

Am I allowed to feel fragile?

Am I allowed to be helpful?

Am I allowed to feel uncertain?

Am I allowed to be compassionate?

Am I allowed to be empathetic ?

Am I allowed to be scared?

Am I allowed to be heroic?

Am I allowed to breathe?

Am I allowed to live?

Because I fucking intend to.

The End.
